I really love this story and I'm always smiling by the end of these two parts. Not to mention, they also leave me with a "warm and fuzzy feeling," despite the obvious angst. Also, I really love your "Ghost" she's quite wonderful. :) And after having seen "A Christmas Carol: The Musical" at my local playhouse, this was just perfect! Your little details also just make this story so much more real. All the little descriptions and inner-monologues/thoughts pull your reader in. It's just..phenomanol.
And, although it's not really my place, I'd like to weigh in on the whole "disability" speech above...If the person sees it as a disability in the first place, obviously they'd want to get it fixed. If they don't see it as a disability they wouldn't want to get it fixed and wouldn't refer to it as such. Though..I'm speaking from being immersed in "Deaf Culture" and I know many Deaf that don't and wouldn't dream of getting their hearing "fixed" because they don't see it as broken, they don't view their deafness as a 'disability.' But then I know many that would get an implant, and many people that have and love being "whole"...However, as far as physical ailments go...I would think all people that have something like this would definitely want it 'fixed,' though I've never been exposed to people like that, and therefore I don't know their perspective. Just thought I'd put that out there, because I thought peoples-who-shall-remain-unnamed were being unfairly prejudiced and incredibly rude, especially on your story. It's YOUR story for Pete's sake! Honestly though..preachy people just irk me. :)
That being said, I cannot wait for the next part and...know that your story always makes my day better. ♥
