Hm... I don't quite understand why you're having such a huge problem with it, because it's fiction, and I as the author have the power to fix things. How is fixing a physical condition any different than fixing a psychological trauma/angsty situation. Both is difficult for people do deal with. And I'm pretty sure anybody with any kind of illness or severe injury would fix it if they could. If I could ask a geenie in a bottle to fix my fucked up knees or something else which I won't mention here now I'd do it. I really don't understand why that's a bad thing. Basically, creating angst and then fixing it (whatever type; bad break up, characters die and are being brought back to life, people get severely ill and are healed, etc) is what is constantly being done in fiction. Unfortunately that doesn't always work real life, but that's what fic is for.
