It's probably not so much anything with the Lehnsherr family at all, but the writers. Edie was a top baby name in 1963, so they were perhaps playing on popularity. It's a nice backstory to how Erik learned all those languages though :)
Esther is more traditional for a Polish woman in the 60's though.
