Fic: Beneath the Surface - News/Update
I'm sorry guys, but I just realized I won't be able to post the next chapter as quickly as I've been posting the others. The showdown is quite complicated, and I want to have it finished completely before I start posting parts of it. I think it's going to be two chapters, but posting half of it tomorrow and the second half a few days later won't work. It might turn out that I need to change a detail here and there which I may only realize toward the end.
So please be patient a little longer. I will try my utmost to get this son of a bitch of a showdown finished over the weekend ;) If I succeed, the epilogue will be posted next Tuesday ^^
Furthermore, I would like to invite you all to reply to this post with the following:
1. Is there anything you're missing in the story, like a character that hasn't gotten enough scenes/dialogue or an aspect I didn't cover yet which you'd like to see?
2. Is there anything you didn't completely understand?
Another reader recently asked me how Erik thinks when he's a shark, which I haven't explained sufficiently, I suppose. Well, the answer is that he does still think like more or less a human, but his instincts are much more animalistic (in regards of danger, food etc). After his parents' death, he never transformed into his human form again, so he became more of a shark, starting to think more like an animal than a human. You may remember that he didn't talk much in the first few chapters and slowly had to get used to everything again. But now that he's been among humans for a while he's adjusted to that again, is probably more in balance with his human and shark side than before.
3. Would you like to read a sequel/vignette? What would you like to see? And would you be interested in reading a sequel that has a second main pairing which would be m/f?
4. Any pairings you'd like to see mentioned?
Or anything else you can come up with/want to know etc. Please don't be shy to also point out mistakes, plot holes, etc etc. I'd be more than happy to hear your input.
And last but not least a HUGE thank you for all the lovely comments so far. They have very often made my day, and without them I would not have continued writing this fic so diligently. So again: THANK YOU!!! ♥

(Anonymous) 2011-09-29 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)I discovered this fic only recently so that means I read most of the chapters in one sitting, which is maybe why I noticed a little detail; in chapter 11, you have Charles thinking "he most certainly had never gotten a blood transfusion", while in chapter 2 this happens: "after three transfusions of O-negative which Hank had nicked at the hospital, 'shark man' had made it through the night". Since you explicitly invite input here I thought I'd mention it.

Hm, guess I can solve that little problem by adding "before". Because the blood transfusions from the hospital are gonna be clean (I hope, as they're very careful about checking and double checking that kinda stuff these days).
Thank you for pointing that out. And thanks for the comment :) I'm glad you like it, and I'm always extremely flattered when someone tells me they've read all in one go. I don't think I'd have that kind of patience, tbh ^^

I just have one tiny request i.e. more Charles and Erik exploring the ocean together. I think that was my favourite part. Oh, I'm also the biggest sucker for 3rd parties commenting on the main characters relationship.
And more sex, that just goes without saying XD
I haven't commented before because I'm klutzy at giving praise, but I really love this story, the world building and all the characters, so yeah, just sending my love to you.
