Help needed: Wild West novels

I'm in desperate need for a good book because I haven't really been reading for quite some time now. The problem is: I'm very picky, and nothing really seems to strike my fancy.
I would like to read a book set in the Wild West, adventure, cowboys, sheriffs etc. But no tragic stuff like a fictional biography of Billy the Kid or Wyatt Earp... and please NO cheesy, corny romance novels with silly titles like "In the arms of a cowboy" or "call of passion" or whatever stupid names these kinds of books have ;)
Actually, it should have some romance, but also adventure, humour and action. So maybe something like the movies "Meverick" with Mel Gibson (loved that one) or "Bad Girls".

Any suggestions? Both English and German books are fine.

Oh... and gay cowboys would be fine too, but I'm a little more into het right now ;)
